This painting captures a real place—a small farm tucked away in the mountains northwest of Boone, North Carolina.
The inspiration came from one of my guests, a photographer and fellow artist, who often explores the area by four-wheeler. Every time he passes this quiet little farm, he finds himself stopping to photograph it. Over the years, he has captured it through changing seasons, shifting light, and countless visits.
Rather than recreating a single photograph, this painting is a blend of those moments—a composition woven together from many images and memories. It celebrates the timeless beauty of a place that continues to call people back, reminding us that sometimes the simplest landscapes leave the deepest impression.

After spending time in Utah and exploring all five of its national parks, something inside me shifted. Standing beneath sandstone cliffs, endless skies, and landscapes that felt almost otherworldly, I remembered why I fell in love with creating in the first place.
For three years, I couldn't finish a painting. My inspiration had gone quiet. But these places awakened something I thought I had lost. This became the first painting I completed in three years—a piece born from wonder, healing, and the feeling of coming home to myself.
It isn't just a portrait of Utah. It's a portrait of what happens when a place changes you. Sometimes the landscape doesn't just inspire the art—it gives the artist back to themselves.
